Inspired by sky
theme
Wings of the Sky is a couture fashion concept inspired by the beauty, freedom, movement, and limitless elegance of the sky. The theme explores the visual connection between wings, clouds, air, and graceful movement, transforming these natural elements into an expressive gown design. The flowing forms of the sky inspired the gown’s silhouette and detailing, while the idea of wings represents freedom, confidence, transformation, and aspiration. The design aims to create a sense of lightness and movement while maintaining a sophisticated and dramatic couture aesthetic.Through this concept, I wanted to show how nature can become a source of fashion inspiration. The abstract beauty of the sky was interpreted through creative gown design, sculptural elements, flowing shapes, and an elegant runway presence.
my Teacher
This project was developed under the guidance of my respected teacher, Farhana Karim. Her academic guidance, creative feedback, and professional approach to fashion design helped me strengthen my design development process and refine the final concept.
Throughout the project, her guidance supported me in translating the “Wings of the Sky” inspiration into a cohesive gown design while considering creativity, silhouette, detailing, presentation, and overall fashion aesthetics.
Her mentorship played an important role in developing my ability to approach a fashion project from initial inspiration and concept development through to the final garment and runway presentation.

How I Made the Dress
The gown was developed through a structured fashion-design process, beginning with the inspiration and concept before progressing into the final garment.
1. Concept Research
I studied the visual qualities of the sky, including clouds, wings, movement, softness, and atmospheric forms. These references helped establish the design language for the gown.
2. Fashion Illustration & Design
The initial concept was translated into fashion sketches and design development. I experimented with the gown's silhouette, proportions, neckline, wing-inspired forms, volume, and decorative elements.
3. Silhouette Development
The final silhouette was developed to create an elegant and dramatic pageant-gown appearance. The proportions were carefully considered to enhance the model's overall presence while maintaining visual balance.
4. Pattern & Garment Development
The selected design was developed into garment components and pattern shapes. The construction was planned according to the gown's silhouette, structural requirements, fit, and design details.
5. Fabric & Material Selection
Materials were selected according to the desired combination of elegance, movement, structure, and visual impact. The fabric and supporting materials were considered carefully so that the finished garment could maintain its intended shape and presentation.
6. Construction & Detailing
The garment was assembled through controlled construction and finishing processes. Special attention was given to the silhouette, proportions, decorative details, and overall couture-inspired appearance.
7. Final Styling
The completed gown was styled to complement the pageant environment and enhance its Wings of the Sky concept. Hair, makeup, accessories, pose, and runway presentation were considered as part of the overall visual story.
The completed gown was showcased by Kobita Akter Bithi at Miss Petite Global Malaysia. The runway presentation transformed the original sky-inspired concept into a complete fashion statement, demonstrating how an abstract source of inspiration can be developed into a wearable couture gown for an international pageant setting.
